Contents: | Virtually all babies come into the world with powerful mechanisms for learning – including those who later are found to be autistic. What forces drive these children down a different developmental path? Despite nearly a hundred thousand scientific articles have been written, an air of mystery still surrounds autism. Prof. Wang will show a way to think about this enormous and sometimes confusing field. Points to be covered include:

Speaker: | Prof. Samuel WangPrinceton professor, Neuroscientist and author Prof. Wang is best known to the public for the books “Welcome to Your Brain” and “Welcome to Your Child’s Brain”. His current research programme addresses learning and plasticity in the brain. He has a major interest in autism, a disorder in which the cerebellum has disrupted structure more often than any other brain region. He has been widely honoured for his advances in neuroscience and was selected by the American Association for the Advancement of Science as a Congressional Science and Engineering Fellow. |
